Medical Oncology

Over one thousand new patients receive chemotherapy of the highest standards at Apollo Hospitals every year. Conventional and high dose chemotherapy are routinely administered. The center routinely performs chemotherapy for different solid tumors and drug combinations. Paediatric Oncology is under the care of specialised consultants, while Haemato-oncology is one of the most successful areas of Medical Oncology.

 Surgical Oncology

Complex tumour removals are skillfully performed by Apollo’s highly trained and motivated surgical oncologists. All patients are discussed in the Tumor Board with multi-disciplinary team prior to the surgery. They are ably supported by dedicated operating theatres, recovery ICU staff and works in the close co ordination with the medical and radiation oncology. Apollo’s success rate in oncology surgeries is comparable to that of the best centres in the world. Specialized surgeries like skull base, commando, liver resection, micro vascular reconstructions of flaps, extensive resection of hepatic and lung tumours, limb conserving surgery in bone tumours, laparoscopic surgery in staging and diagnosis, and the like are performed with high success rates.

 Radiation Oncology

We provide state of art technology with highly conformal treatments like Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT). The department’s linear accelerators are equipped with multi-leaf collimation and electronic portal imaging. These linacs provide the capability to treat with low and high energy photons as well as a range of electron energies. Treatments are planned with 64 slice spiral CT scanner and 1.5 T MRI which are networked with the treatment planning server. This three-dimensional (3-D) conformal and IMRT treatment approach has been used in the department.
