Introduction:

Dr. K. Subramanyam Heads the department of Anaesthesia and is an Operation Theatre Co-ordinator. A thespian in his field, he joined Apollo Hospitals Bangalore, as a Senior Consultant in the department of Anaesthesia. A perfectionist, having more than three decades of vast experience, he aims to bring safety measures at the International level.

Experience and Expertise :

Dr. K. Subramanyam is a specialist in pain management and usually attends to patients in Intensive Care Units(ICU). He is in-charge of administering anaesthesia to various departments like Neonatal, Pediatric, non-cardiac thoracic surgery, renal transplant and liver transplant. He also administers covers for neuro and cardiac surgery. He has also performed more than 4,000 high end procedures. He has also received Solid Organ Transplant training from the University of Nebraska Medical Centre, Ohama, USA. This included training from complex cardiac surgeries, ventricular assist device therapy and heart transplants. Apart from this he has also attended a specialized Liver Transplantation training in Asan Medical Center in Seoul.

Biography:

Dr. K. Subramanyam went on to do MBBS after he attained a degree in B.Sc. completing his MBBS from Kasturba Medical College (KMC) Gulbarga, he did his D.A from JJM Medical College, Davangere. Subsequently, he did his Post Graduate course of M.D from KMC, Mangalore. He had an interesting career, as he started as a Senior House Officer at St. Martha’s Hospital. Three years later, he reached the post of Junior Medical Officer. He came to Bangalore Kidney Foundation and worked with the transplant team. Additionally, he worked at Mallige Medical Centre as an anesthetist in the departments of Neuro surgeries, vascular surgeries, and neo natal and pediatrics. He later came to the reputed Mallya Hospital and joined as an anesthetist. To realize his dream, he joined the Apollo Hospitals, Bangalore five years ago.

Publications:

His paper on Comparative study of Lorazepam with Diazepam as Intravenous premedications is published. Dr. Subramanyam has chaired a number of sessions in the national Conferences. He has to his credit of having chaired a session conducted by the 2nd National Conference on Pediatric anesthesia that was held in Bangalore. He has also chaired a session on controversies in anesthesia conducted by ISACON that was held at Mysore. Apart from this, he is a faculty and presently chairing a session in the present medical education programme organized by Bangalore city branch.

Major Accomplishments:

For the first time in 25 years, he gathered all anesthetists in Hyderabad for pain management to have a similar protocol. Dr. Subramanyam aims to introduce high end technology to the OT room in the department of anesthesia. He intends bringing International safety measures and plans to introduce the concept of Green House anesthesia.
